In my last At the Helm post, I mentioned that we were implementing Dynamics GP 2010 at new customer sites. Since that time, we've also updated some existing customers. We're waiting for the first Service Pack(due in September) before tackling updates in earnest. Updates have gone well so far. We'll be contacting you to get your update on the schedule in September.
For those of you still on Dynamics GP 9, you've got until January 11th to update to GP 10 or GP 2010. After that, support from Microsoft will no longer be available…..no Service Packs, no Tax Updates, no issue resolution. You may have some hardware decisions to make. We will be reviewing your options with you soon to help you work through this.
It's amazing how many people are asking me about online services. I'm asked about online Exchange(email), Dynamics CRM, and Dynamics GP. All are available in the "Cloud" and it makes sense for many businesses. In my mind, Hosted Exchange makes LOTS of sense. Getting rid of an Exchange Server and all its related headaches and administration can save you lots of money. If you're looking at upgrading to a new Exchange Server, you'll save big bucks! We're seeing Hosted Exchange available for as low as $2.50 per user per month! And Hosted Dynamics CRM is available now for Dynamics customers for $19 per user per month! We can help you with this too.
Another hot topic now is Mobile. Most of you get text and email on your phone, but did you know that you can also get Dynamics CRM and GP on your phone? Yes, you can! Call me if you're interested in learning about this.
Several years ago, we hosted a Dynamics GP Business Portal Launch at Delta Dental. We had a few customers show up, but it never got any traction. Now, we've got several customers that are providing Dynamics functionality like Requisitions and Purchase Orders to their employees via the web utilizing Business Portal. Others are providing secure Employee Payroll information access as well. I guess it just took a while for Business Portal to be accepted.
We've seen the next version of CRM called Dynamics CRM 2011. It's coming out in the first quarter of 2011. It's awesome!
It's been a HOT summer! I am so thankful that I have an inside job!
Go Hogs!
